Shasta Community Health Center (SCHC) is a non-profit primary health care system and is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). SCHC is based in Redding, California and has served Shasta County and surrounding counties and communities since 1988. Shasta Community Health Center's mission and purpose is to provide high quality health care to our community with compassion and understanding.

Since inception, the health center has grown steadily and now includes eight locations in Redding, Anderson, and Shasta Lake City. At it's flagship health center in Redding, SCHC provides primary medical, pediatric, dental, vision, mental health, urgent care, specialty consults, telemedicine, and HIV services. SCHC specializes in health care for the homeless, provides a ready point of access for the developmentally disabled population, and is a primary resource for medical treatment of substance abuse. SCHC sees close to 40,000 patients, providing 140,000 clinical encounters annually. SCHC employs close to 500 staff and over 100 healthcare providers.

We Are a 
Teaching Institution 

SCHC is a teaching health center with residency and fellowship programs, as well as interns and trainees within departments such as behavioral health. We have an in-house RDA training program, we work with the local community college to train dental students, and we have student trainees do rotations with our clinicians and dentists.

We are committed to quality by providing health campaigns that educate, empower and engage our community. Our health campaigns cover a range of topics, such as chronic disease prevention, mental health awareness, maternal and child health, and more. We partner with local organizations, schools, and media outlets to reach diverse audiences and promote healthy behaviors. Our goal is to improve the health and well-being of our patients and the public.

Shasta Community Health Center (SCHC) is a state licensed and independent non-profit Community Health Center, led by an independent and consumer majority board of directors. SCHC is also a Health Center Program grantee under 42 U.S.C. 254b, and a deemed Public Health Service employee under 42 U.S.C. 233(g)-(n). As such, SCHC receives Health and Human Services funding and has Federal Public Health Service (PHS) status with respect to certain health or health-related claims, including professional liability claims (i.e. malpractice claims), for itself and those covered clinicians/practitioners and support staff at SCHC.
