Dr McMullin is certified as a Master Trainer for Helping Babies Breathe (HBB), an international initiative of USAID ,  AAP and Laerdal Pharmaceuticals.  The purpose of HBB is to bring essential and sustainable training in neonatal resuscitation to third world underserved communities.  Typically a team of 8 trainers (physicians, residents, RT)  travel to teach the two day course to birthing attendants, physicians, midlevels, etc.  Training materials, posters, learning booklets and training manikins are purchased with volunteer donations and left with the local hospital or agency for ongoing training.

In Tanzania, two classes of 40 birthing attendants were certified over a four day period.  It is our hope that each of the trainees will return to their practice site and train 10 further colleagues.
