Paul Davainis, MD
Paul Davainis, MD, was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. After obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree of Science from UC Davis he moved to Chicago where he graduated from The Chicago Medical School in 1993. Family Practice Residency training then brought him back to the UC Davis affiliated training program in Stockton, California. After a training rich in Obstetrics, Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine, Dr. Davainis moved to a small, rural community in the mountains of California where he delivered over a thousand babies, including many via cesarean section, cared for the newborns including initial newborn intensive care, cared for adult and pediatric inpatients as well as surgical assisting and Emergency Department work, too. During this time he also enjoyed some teaching of medical students partaking in various rural rotations.
After 18 years of full spectrum Family Medicine, Dr. Davainis and his family relocated to Redding in 2014. He is excited to have joined the faculty at the SCHC Family Medicine Residency Program as an Associated Clinical Professor at UC Davis and hopes to be able to share some of his rural medicine experiences with the Residents and perhaps encourage their curiosity in rural medicine. He also maintains a full spectrum Family Practice in the smaller community of Anderson, one of SCHC’s satellite Dr. Davainis’s family have also enjoyed their move to Redding which accommodates their active outdoor lifestyle and academic goals.
