Shasta Community Health Center Receives $100,000 Windfall

Friday, July 16th, 2010

The Shasta Community Health Center received an unexpected $100,000 windfall last week, the result of a settlement between a Redding hospital and state health care regulators.

In May, Prime Healthcare Services, the owner of Shasta Regional Medical Center, reached a $1.2 million settlement after Prime was accused by the Department of Managed Health Care of unfairly billing HMO patients for services not covered by insurers. Shasta Regional’s patients weren’t included in the allegations because the hospital isn’t an HMO.
